Sales Tip for Valentines from Heart & Soul Candies & Troop Members:

NEW! Great tips from one of the largest AHG troops KY3130! Raised over $10,000 for their troop.

1# Schedule to set up a table inside/outside lobby of large office buildings on Feb 13th and 14th to sell to last minute buyers, which according to statistics is about 90% of the people. Hand out flyers in the office building a few days before the sale. Think about adding roses and/or cards to sell with the chocolate. This is a great way to sell a lot of boxes quickly! Inquire with the offices you approached for the Christmas Fundraiser.

2# Contact local men’s groups. Men’s bible studies, church groups or civic groups are a great way to generate sales.  Men are always looking for a unique gift for their loved ones. Think about adding a rose and card for sale as a gift set.
3# Approach local restaurants or organizations who are promoting Valentines Day Dinner packages to see if they would like to purchase the chocolate box as a gift to include with the dinner ticket package. Inquire with the businesses you approached for the Christmas Fundraiser.

4# Valentine boxes are a great addition to Father/Daughter Banquets, couple dinners and dances at churches, schools, and various organizations throughout your community. Start by contacting the coordinator of the event to discuss including the chocolate box in the ticket price. With many Father/Daughter Banquets, the father brings home the chocolate box to his wife.

5# Host a “Valentines Day Tea Party”. Invite moms, daughters, grandmothers, aunts and sister. Serve tea, cookies and finger sandwiches. Invite a motivational Christian women speaker to speak or honor women in your community for their achievements. Add the chocolate box to the ticket price as a gift for attending. If you do not want to host the event, look into your community events calendar to see who may be hosting such an event in your area and contact them.

6# What about nursing homes, senior citizen centers, shut-ins or local missions? Offer friends and family the opportunity to buy boxes that will be donated to these individuals. The troop will deliver the boxes near Valentines Day and let them know who donated them. Another great outreach!  See Donation Column on Individual Order Form.

7# Host a Daddy/Daughter Dance! With the cost of the ticket, add a box of chocolate for Daddy to take home to mom.

Sales Tips From Troop Members who sold more than 30 boxes. Way to go!

Top Sellers Story:

2011 Top Sellers Valentines:

S is an energetic Tenderheart in WA. She is in the newly formed Troop #0007. She set a goal to earn money to pay for camp. She worked hard at booth sales in February with her troop. She will be using the money she earned to attend Gilbert Ranch in Scott Mills, OR and will have plenty left over for other activities!

E, I am 7 years old, a first grader, troop MD1208. My troop isn’t even one year old yet, we just started it last Fall.  My mom told me that I am the top seller with my troop for the Valentine’s Day Candy fundraiser and the second highest seller in the whole country.  I am really proud that I helped my troop earn money to do our activities.  My mom helped me pull my red wagon around my neighborhood and I sold lots of candy to my neighbors.  My mom let me call some of our friends and ask them to buy candy too.  It was a lot of fun meeting everyone and a lot of work too.  The wagon got heavy on the hills.  I really like the AHG meetings, my Tenderheart leaders are teaching us all kinds of fun stuff and about doing good things for others and how that makes God happy.  We just made dolls at our last meetings from yarn and clothes pins!  Our troop is going to go camping with our families next month.  I like to camp, I have gone with my brother’s scout troop before so I know what to do. I am glad that my church has chartered my American Heritage Girls troop.  I like American Heritage Girls and hope everyone else joins and has fun too!??

M from OH3712 sold in her neighborhood, to her aunts and uncles and also got up at 5:30 AM on a Friday to bring some boxes to her Dad's Father's Prayer Group.

JB from KY- The only way she could continue in AHG was to participate in the Heart and Soul Christmas fundraiser. As a family they came up with how much she would have to make to cover her dues, uniforms and summer camp. She would have to sell 100 boxes. She sold them to everyone she met and told them the message on the box was more important than the chocolate. She sold 108 boxes which gave her $405.00 net profit and the $250.00 first place prize for a grand total of $655.00.

Others:

LL from TX  - “100 boxes sold to her dad's company for their small customer thank you gifts. -Direct Ship”

Sisters from TX (BY & BY)  - “We plan to sell the product at our town’s Christmas on the Main street vendor event, Dec 5th.”

AE & JB from KY - “pure old door-to-door sales, whereas J… tried to sell to some businesses, along with the door-to-door”

JM from TX - “The night of the fundraiser kick-off, her brother had a football game. She asked the fans in the stands, the cheerleaders, and the coaches saying "will you support my troop by buying a box of chocolate for Christmas?"  I would explain what AHG was and how it benefits her and our community and how we first glorify God. Then she would recite a verse or our creed.  Of course she would thank them, often giving a hug.”

EL from MN (a third grade tenderfoot) - “She has a strong seller for a brother. He has sold for Boy Scouts for many years. She learned from him and has only approached people she knows and is comfortable speaking (or emailing) with. She had many sales to family and she especially sold well to people that she knew would appreciate the Christian messages on the boxes. It was an incredible easy product for her to sell, her first ever sales experience. Of course the samples were a great incentive. When asked if the chocolates were good, she'd smile her huge smile and happily report "they are delicious!" Thanks for making it a great learning and growing experience for her!”

MP from TN – “Is just blessed enough to have a mother that works at an Elementary School and has access to many Teacher’s and staff members!”

Sister Teams from CO (MC & SC and CC, GC, LC)- “They took the sales sheet to their fathers work, asked friends and family members to buy. We encouraged the girls to sell as family groups rather than individuals as most of our girls have sisters in the troop.  We thought this would encourage teamwork rather than competition within the family.  Our second place winner was another sister team. They say they took their sales sheet everywhere they went and just asked everyone they saw.”

AY from AK - "We preordered our boxes for our girls. So she hand carried the boxes door to door and held up both box types - we only had red and blue. One lady I asked, “Would you like more peace or hope in your week this week?” She replied she needed both so she said she would take both boxes."

HT from CT- "She used a mixture of ways to promote this product.  Her first sale(s) technique was to send an email message to friends, family and businesses we frequent.  She also participated in a sale at a local grocery store and our parish church this past weekend, where the majority of her sales took place.  We found that her end-of-Mass announcements were a huge help for boosting sales at these events."
